Multicast Monday: Streaming External Events to Internal Audiences

It’s Monday… Multicast Monday! If you read my
last post
, you know I like Mondays. A new week means you get to restart,
reframe and learn something new. Since I’m new to the Ramp team, I thought I’d
share some of what I’m learning about our solutions with you.

I recently spoke to one of our customers about how they’re using streaming video. In addition to sharing mission-critical internal messages, gleaning insights from outside experts is just as important to their organization. As a result, they often stream external events on their internal network, using multicast.

They learned early on webcasting live events puts a huge strain
on their network—and viewers’ quality of experience (QoE) suffers. By
introducing an enterprise content delivery network (eCDN), namely AltitudeCDN™
Multicast+
, they have realized massive efficiencies beyond bandwidth. Employees
no longer need to travel to events and conferences to get the information they
need to do their jobs.

With Multicast+, our customers get:

  • Superior QoE: We know QoE is the true measure of success. Multicast+’s bandwidth-smoothing technologies like patented forward-error correction, high-availability clustering and real-time traffic rerouting help you create a seamless, high-quality viewer experience.
  • Efficiency: Multicast+ delivers a single stream to all viewers. Let me say that again in a different way: Multicast+ sends only one video stream that everyone can watch. Without it, you’d have hundreds or thousands of video streams clogging up your network. Just imagine how that would impact business operations.
  • Security: I know I mentioned it last week, but it’s worth repeating. Because Multicast+ is deployed and managed 100 percent inside your firewall, it inherently maintains your security policies. The information you’re sharing never leaves your enterprise.

If you’d like to hear more about how our customers are managing
the wave of video hitting their networks, join us on April 24 at 1 p.m. ET for
a webcast hosted by Wainhouse Research Senior Analyst Steve Vonder Haar.

If you can’t make it to the webinar, read our technical deep dive into Multicast+ , the premier multicast solution for modern streaming protocols.

Make it a great week!
