Ramp 2019 Webinar Ramp SAS Wainhouse Headshots Vertical

A discussion with SAS Institute and Wainhouse Research

The wave of consumer video is spilling into business, drowning
corporate networks and creating challenges for network pros. Wainhouse Research’s
2018 Enterprise Streaming End User Survey found 79 percent of respondents
reported some usage of streaming business video on at least a weekly basis.

Have you prepared for the wave of video about to crash into your
enterprise?

SAS Institute’s Johnathan Eshleman, Wainhouse Research Senior Analyst Steve Vonder Haar and Ramp’s Alan MacLeod share how organizations are addressing the reality of every day video flooding their already bandwidth-constrained networks.

Ramp 2019 Webinar Logos SAS

In the webinar, you will
learn:

  • What’s driving demand for live video and video on demand (VOD)
  • Strategies for managing internal video demands
  • Practical approaches to alleviating network congestion caused by bandwidth-consuming video
  • Analytics and measuring ROI

Multicast Monday: Streaming External Events to Internal Audiences

CMMA Blog

By: Julie Basa

It’s Monday… Multicast Monday! If you read my
last post
, you know I like Mondays. A new week means you get to restart,
reframe and learn something new. Since I’m new to the Ramp team, I thought I’d
share some of what I’m learning about our solutions with you.

I recently spoke to one of our customers about how they’re using streaming video. In addition to sharing mission-critical internal messages, gleaning insights from outside experts is just as important to their organization. As a result, they often stream external events on their internal network, using multicast.

They learned early on webcasting live events puts a huge strain
on their network—and viewers’ quality of experience (QoE) suffers. By
introducing an enterprise content delivery network (eCDN), namely AltitudeCDN™
Multicast+
, they have realized massive efficiencies beyond bandwidth. Employees
no longer need to travel to events and conferences to get the information they
need to do their jobs.

With Multicast+, our customers get:

  • Superior QoE: We know QoE is the true measure of success. Multicast+’s bandwidth-smoothing technologies like patented forward-error correction, high-availability clustering and real-time traffic rerouting help you create a seamless, high-quality viewer experience.
  • Efficiency: Multicast+ delivers a single stream to all viewers. Let me say that again in a different way: Multicast+ sends only one video stream that everyone can watch. Without it, you’d have hundreds or thousands of video streams clogging up your network. Just imagine how that would impact business operations.
  • Security: I know I mentioned it last week, but it’s worth repeating. Because Multicast+ is deployed and managed 100 percent inside your firewall, it inherently maintains your security policies. The information you’re sharing never leaves your enterprise.

If you’d like to hear more about how our customers are managing
the wave of video hitting their networks, join us on April 24 at 1 p.m. ET for
a webcast hosted by Wainhouse Research Senior Analyst Steve Vonder Haar.

If you can’t make it to the webinar, read our technical deep dive into Multicast+ , the premier multicast solution for modern streaming protocols.

Make it a great week!

All jokes aside…Multicast is the most reliable eCDN for live video

CMMA Blog

By: Julie Basa

Aren’t Mondays the best? Sprinkle in a little April Fool’s
Day shenanigans, and this one will be more exhausting than usual.

I’m probably in the minority, but Monday’s excite me. They’re
a chance to reframe, set new goals, and learn something new. In the spirit of
learning, I thought I’d take this opportunity to teach you a little about AltitudeCDN™
Multicast+
—and it’s no April Fool’s joke.

If you haven’t been introduced to Multicast+, it’s a bandwidth-saving, one-to-many network protocol that reduces traffic by distributing a single video stream all viewers can access. Simply put, you send only one stream across your network during a live webcast versus a stream for each person watching to save a ton of bandwidth.

There are countless benefits to multicast, and here are a few reasons our customers turn to Ramp for reliable, secure and predictable live streams:

  • Software-defined networking: Lightweight, flexible software that runs and scales on your existing network without proprietary hardware or labor-intensive network upgrades.
  • Security: Since Multicast+ sits 100 percent behind the firewall and encrypts video streams, it maintains the security policies you already have in place. Even AltitudeCDN Altimeter, Ramp’s web-based management system, stays inside your firewall, protecting you from outside risks.
  • Vendor neutral: Multicast+ supports any HLS, DASH or browser-based video player, making it the only enterprise content delivery network (eCDN) you need for internal, live video events.

If you’re already using a multicast solution that’s coming
to end of life, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. Multicast+ is the only direct
replacement for those solutions and will run on any multicast-enabled network.

It’s no April Fool’s joke—it really is the most efficient, reliable and secure way to deliver live video. If you want to learn more about Multicast+, read our whitepaper “Multicast is Alive and Well,” or drop us a line.

OmniCache: Your eCDN pot of Gold

CMMA Blog

By: Denise Iverson, VP of Sales & Marketing

Are
you relying on the luck of the Irish when it comes to streaming video on your
network?

Using
video for large-scale communications is proving to be an effective way to
engage employees. But the more popular it is, the more it can wreak havoc on
your network. With Ramp, you don’t need to hunt for a leprechaun or a
four-leafed clover—our eCDN has everything you need to successfully deliver
high-quality video without compromising your network.

AltitudeCDN™ OmniCache™ is an intelligent video cache that reduces network traffic by 90 percent or more. By placing a cache at key locations around the network, you reduce the distance the video needs to travel and the total amount of video traffic travelling across your entire network.

OmniCache runs on hardware you probably already have available and supports virtually any streaming platform.

The
smarter you are with your eCDN, the luckier you get. What you’ll find in the OmniCache
pot of gold:

  • No client software or plugin required
  • Supports live video and video on demand (VOD)
  • Supports any video source, any device and any player technology
  • Enterprise-grade security deployed on premises, 100 percent behind your firewall
  • End-to-end encryption at rest and in motion
  • Best option for mobile devices
  • Self-discoverable, self-healing for exceptional resiliency
  • Content pre-positioning allows you to push video to the cache when network activity is low
  • Easy to deploy, manage and scale as your needs change

Enterprise
Connect is the perfect time to design your end-to-end video strategy, but have
you looked beyond the new tools and flashy appliances?

Quality
of experience (QoE) can make or break any enterprise video—whether it’s an
all-hands meeting, executive message or training video—and your video network
is the foundation of your success. If employees complain about buffering,
connection delays or that they can’t watch live streams from certain locations,
you probably have a network capacity problem.

Want to learn more? Meet with Ramp during Enterprise Connect.

Ramp specializes in optimizing video distribution behind the firewall to alleviate network congestion, significantly reduce bandwidth consumption—and ultimately improve QoE.

Our team will introduce you to Ramp AltitudeCDN™ , our enterprise content delivery network (eCDN) solutions for multicasting and intelligent video caching.
