AVI-SPL Makes SCN’s List of Installs of the Year

AV Everywhere

Systems Contractor News highlights its “Installs of the Year” in its November 2018 issue, and AVI-SPL’s work is among them. AVI-SPL recently integrated AV-over-IP systems that help the U.S. Air Force monitor and control its Test and Training range at Eglin Air Force Base.

Personnel at the 96th Range Control Squadron at Eglin AFB select visuals from test-range cameras and display those feeds to a control-room video wall. Operators select the feeds they want to display and group them together for intelligent, live viewing. Using this information, they track and control aircraft and weapons that are in flight.

RGB Spectrum‘s Zio codecs are at the core of this installation. Twenty-four Zio units decode and display over 150 live visuals from the field. RGB Spectrum has an excellent overview of this project.

AVI-SPL engineers and technicians design, test, and install systems that distribute audio and video over any size network. Emerging Trends in Higher Education Technology

AV in Education

Teachers that use technology solutions like interactive whiteboards, video collaboration systems, and advanced visualization are creating learning spaces equipped for the way students want to learn. And as Brawn Consulting points out, they’re also taking important steps toward preparing their students for their lives after school.

Eighty-five percent of jobs that will exist in 2030 will be new — and will involve technology at a high level. Giving students access to technology solutions can also help them develop and hone life skills, including how to learn and think critically and create presentations.

Brawn Consulting, a venerable consultant to the audio-visual industry, has identified emerging trends in higher education, particularly those related to technology:

  • Students expect seamless technology in the classroom
  • Machine learning will predict student performance
  • Outsourcing more IT systems
  • Remote technical support will be more important to systems security
  • Increased group work and collaboration
  • BYOD adoption will be standard
  • Scalable school systems like cloud-based applications, infrastructure, and collaborative platforms
  • Collaboration tools and video communication will become more prevalent

In light of these trends, Brawn recommends that schools and their teachers:

  • Experiment with the technology that engages students and helps them retain their lessons
  • Focus on scalable cloud-based collaboration systems that include managed support
  • Rely on the International Society for Technology Education, a nonprofit that provides technology and learning resources

You can rely on AVI-SPL to help navigate these trends and integrate the seamless technology students expect and need. To create the classrooms that engage students and prepare them for the evolving job market, contact AVI-SPL at sales@avispl.com or 866-559-8197.

Five Best Practices for Adopting UC and Video

AV Everywhere

Unified communications and video collaboration tools improve the user experience when they align with business goals AND are used throughout an organization. AVI-SPL’s Customer Advisory Board, which includes Fortune 500 companies and large enterprises, met throughout 2018 to share the value of UC and video in their organizations, and how they increase user adoption so that the company and its staff reap those benefits. The result of those meetings is a brief that is summarized in a LinkedIn post by AVI-SPL SVP of Marketing Kelly Bousman.
