Meet the Team: John Rein

What is a company without their sales department? Today we learn a little more about VZP by speaking with our VP of Sales, John Rein.

What was your path to joining VZP?

I have been fortunate enough to know both Victor and Laura for the past 20 years.  We worked at Starz Encore Group together and then reconnected a couple of years back with a start-up channel. I have always enjoyed the leadership and working environment that Victor provides, so I thought VZP Digital would be a great opportunity.

How do you think VZP Digital is different from other competitors?

There are a few things that differentiate us, but I think the biggest thing is that we are not just doing captioning because we have experience in it, we are truly trying to serve the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communities. We are doing this through our promo videos, community events, and much more.

Tell us a little about your background.

I am originally from Michigan but I moved to Colorado in 1997 to work for Starz Encore Group.

Not being from here originally, what do you enjoy most about Colorado?

There are so many things – the mountains, the altitude, 300 days of sunshine, the winters are better than those in Michigan, friendly people, etc. I really love living in Colorado.

Being from Michigan, are you a big sports fan?

That would be an understatement.  Being from Hockeytown (Detroit) I am a HUGE Red Wings fan – and while the Avalanche/Red Wings rivalry is not what it once was, I am still not a popular person in The Pepsi Center when the Wings come to town (this was a particularly tough question for the interviewer since she is a HUGE Avs fan and the rivalry is still very much alive to her). I am also a big University of Michigan football fan – GO BLUE!

Do you have a particular vacation destination you like to frequent?

I would have to say Maui as I have been going there for the last 4 years

What is something unique or unusual about you that others might not know immediately?

When I lived in Detroit I used to do impersonations on the local radio stations, so I still like to have fun with that. I can always be counted on for a laugh and I am the office-putting champion.
